I watched the pilot episode of You and Me Against the World tonight on TV5. It is hosted by the grand dame Gretchen Barreto and the two first contestants were Lucy Torres-Gomez and the rumored lover of Gretchen–John Estrada. There was one time in the show that John mentioned about him having eaten kwek-kwek (or was it tokneneng?) and Gretchen said something like “You’ll eat anything, anywhere.” Or something to that effect. Was she referring to a private “eating” that she and John had in the past? We can only guess.
Anyway, the mechanics of the show are pretty good and it was pretty interesting. The jackpot prize is P1 million. Lucy could get everything if she answered all the questions correctly, but since Lucy only got P190,000, the world (which was composed of a group of people surrounding the game area and I am not sure how many) got to share the balance of P810,000! Pretty good huh?
Gretchen could still improve on her hosting. She was rather pretty stiff. But I will give her the benefit of the discomfort, after all, this is the pilot episode. Maybe, after a few shows and she will become more comfortable hosting. I didn’t notice that much ads on the show, I wonder how they can sustain the P1 million a week prize, plus Gretchen’s talent fee?
The researchers can also do better. One question tonight asked “What does the letter ‘F” stand for in the FAMAS?” This same question was asked by Edu Manzano at Game KNB only this week. Maybe they should be more varied in their questions.
Well, I hope to see a better show next week. I wonder if there will still be celebrities for contestants?
