20 Pesos Across the Board Wage Hike

Our country, the Philippines, may be considered poor in world standards, but essentially a lot of people have work, depending on their educational status and perseverance.

Nevertheless, people keep on complaining about being poor, etc. etc. No matter how wages increased, people would keep on complaining about the rising prices of everything.

But here are my observations:

1. Instead of finding ways to augment their husbands’ income, some women opt to stay home all the time (sometimes they have kids to take care of, sometimes they don’t) and gossip in the nearby sari-sari store all afternoon long.

2. Some people keep on complaining but when they get their salaries, they go to Jollibee to treat their families or the nearest watering hole.

3. A lot of times, salaries are already spent long before they come.

4. Today, I ordered a cologne from our employee who is also selling Avon. The cologne was worth P99. The rest of the employees had more than P500 purchase each. Go figure.

5. People complain of rising prices, yet they buy load for their celphones, and they keep abreast with new housings, casings, accessories, and even units.

There is more. I guess if we know how to set our priorities in order, we will better be able to budget our income and be released from burdensome debt. No matter how much we earn, we still complain if we don’t know how to budget our money. We can study our finances, do something about it, quit complaining, and live a more contented life.

Being frugal has its rewards.
