Where I am, Bacolod City High School has produced some of the best minds of our society. But it seems that in the US, the case is different. Public high schools are being closed, such as the Christopher Columbus High School.

According to the New York Times, “Closing schools for poor performance, especially large high schools, has been one of the most controversial hallmarks of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s control of the school system.” The schools were closed and replaced with smaller schools with different school officials. I am not sure if this has been a good move, but it seems that many people are not too happy about it. I guess if your alma mater, where you came from and you spent a good number of memorable years, were closed, you would feel real bad.

Anyway, on another light, I really find the male figure skater Johnny Weir really cute. And he does not care if figure skating is a manly sport or not. He says he can wear pink and be cool about it. He has really brought figure skating into another level because of his passion.
