Joshua Yoyo Trickster: Ultimate Talentado

So okay, it has been decided by the audience and the jury that Joshua the Yoyo Trickster is the First Ultimate Talentadong Pinoy.

While the rest have really nothing to lose, as all of them are already winners and enjoying careers that became after they were discovered in the show Talentadong Pinoy, but I really would have wanted another winner. He was not even in my Top 3 list. I would have wanted either Wan Lu, Makatatawanan, or the Tribal Dancers. Oh well, but I am not the judge.

Anyway, here are the contenders:

  1. The Tribal Dancers
  2. Far East Acrobats: The Gutierrez Family
  3. Wan Lu the Puppeteer
  4. Joshua Yoyo Trickster
  5. Singer Leah Patricio
  6. Omar the Ladder Balancer
  7. Ferdinand Clemente a.k.a. Makatatawanan
  8. Wild card, JacquelineExcept for Jacqueline the blind young singer, everyone hurdled five weeks of fierce competitions. As for my husband, he said he was okay with anyone winning except for Leah Patricio.

Nickelodeon Shows in Tagalog

When it was still TV 5, I really appreciate the Nickelodeon programming that they air. This is really a network for kids during the day. At least, for those without cable connection like me, I have a choice what to let my baby watch on TV, not just the daytime game shows and the telenovela marathon from afternoon to almost midnight.

Then it became Shake TV 5. They took the extra mile of translating Nickelodeon shows in Tagalog. Wonderpets, Barney, Pat the Postman, etc. Plus all the animated shows. Oh please!

Really, we have these shows so that our children can learn better English. Why did they even think of translating these shows in Tagalog????

I am not putting down our language. But this is not the avenue to teach it, as these shows are for children to learn proper English. If we want to learn Tagalog, we can watch ABS-CBN or GMA from morning till night and we can learn Tagalog. But not English. That should have been the unique selling proposition of TV 5–airing Nickelodeon shows in English. With the translation, we are better off watching educational DVDs instead of your channel. Would you want that?

So please Shake TV 5, do your moral responsibility and revert the shows back into English. And mind you, you will get to save on the translators and dubbers.

P.S. It really looks awful to see blondes speaking in perfect Tagalog and yet sometimes their English is not that good. So Please lang….
