The Ilonggo digital film “Namets!” premiered last night, Nov. 24, 2008, at the SM Cinema 3 in Bacolod City. It was a star-studded night, with the main characters attending: Angel Jacob, Christian Vasquez, and Peque Gallaga. Monsour del Rosario was there, too, but I am not sure about his participation. I will tell you why. My former film and photography professor and Palanca multi awardee, Vince Groyon, was there, too. He was the screenplaywright But I was shy to approach him. We haven’t seen each other since I have graduated in college. Don’t ask when.
Anyway, we go there around 6:40 for the 7pm screening. We didn’t know it was the premiere and everyone was there. So tickets were sold out. Not wanting to waste our going to SM, we bought a couple of tickets, priced at P70 each, a little expensive than usual, because the movie will benefit Tapulanga Foundation and St. Francis of Assissi. Our schedule was 8:30pm.
But due to some technical difficulties, our screening time was moved to 9:30pm, and so we opted to watch it later instead because hubby still has to work early today.
Caption: Sorry, I didn’t get good pictures. I don’t want to be caught in the throng because I was protecting my tummy.
The celebrities were chatting with the people around, because these are mostly people that they knew. Such is the treatment of celebs here in Bacolod. People are curious and wanted pictures, but they would rather be friendly.
But when we went to the office of Smart Communications, we heard shrieks outside, and we looked out to see what the raucous was about. A throng of about 20 girls from Bago City College (they were in uniform) saw Christian Vasquez and screamed. Oh well, so much for dignity.
Anyway, Christian may often be seen around the city because he hails from here. I know his uncle, who was a former officemate of mine. I have been to their house and though we don’t know each other personally, I have seen him around University of St. La Salle when he was in high school with his then girlfriend who became his wife, and eventually his ex.
Oh well…I guess, that is what they say that the promdis are crazy over celebrities…hehe Will tell you more tomorrow after I have watched the film tonight.
Namets! is directed by Jay Abello and will be shown for a week at SM Cinema 3 (SM City Bacolod).
