It was around 6:30pm last night when my husband and I drove to Robinsons Place Bacolod. It was already late but I forgot to lift the car’s visor and so when my husband said, “Tigas ho, like a flag,” I thought he was referring to a cloud formation. Little did I know that he was referring to the venus-moon alignment that was seen on the night sky.
It was very majestic and kinda eerie. And my husband said that it looked a like the illustration in one country’s flag. According to gmanews, “Village elders believe it tells of lovers eloping, or a pregnant woman being married. Either way, the alignment of Venus and the moon on a fine Sunday night as seen in the country was one majestic sight.” It article also said that Venus is getting nearer to the earth.
Many people tried photographing the phenomenon last night using digital cams and cellphone cameras. Some used flash. Aw cmon, we all know that these won’t work. Unless you have a nice telephoto lens or at least a tripod, you would not really get a decent photo of these nighttime wonders in the sky. Below is a photo I lifted from a friend’s Facebook page, Jimbo Araneta. I took the liberty of cropping it though to focus on the moon and the planet Venus.

Too bad that Dindin si still too young to understand this. I did point it to her but I think that her mind could not yet probably comprehend the faraway vision in the night sky. Or she just simply did not see it. It did not resemble her glow in the dark stars.
