On April 27-May 3, 2008, the entire island of Negros, Philippines will be celebrating the 3rd Negros Island Organic Festival here in Bacolod City. The celebration will coincide with the Panaad sa Negros Festival and will also be held at the Panaad Stadium.
This festival was started three years ago as a brainchild of the late Negros Occidental Gov. Joseph Marañon. It is being held every year and is hosted by both Occidental and Oriental Negros alternately.
The festival will showcase the products of Negrense farmers who have turned organic and will also serve as an awareness campaign to go organic farming. The provincial government is bent on making Negros Island as the organic food bowl of Asia.
