The last time I wrote about this topic, the death toll was only 47. And were already horrified. Now it is already 57, are we just counting numbers here?

Nobody really knows how many people were killed. There are still some people missing. I think there are still more, after all, the police are just counting based on the people they dug up in shallow graves.

The MILF said that they had nothing to do with the killings. It was all politically motivated, something that stirred up between rival clans–the Ampatuans and Mangudadatus of Maguindanao.

How many more lives will be sacrificed in the name of politics?

I saw some pictures last night, some of them included pregnant women. Most of the women were shot in the genitals, so the police suspect that they were raped first before killed. Shooting their genitals probably masked the seminal fluids that could have been present there for evidence. The suspects did not  bother to wear condoms apparently.

I denounce the killings, but I will not call the perpetrators names. Only God has the right to judge them. However, they should be subjected to the law of this land and the punishments that await those who do such atrocities. God please, bring the killers and the masterminds to justice.

What is happening to the Philippines? We have government officials that are bent on emptying the country’s coffers and transferring funds to their personal accounts. We have blatant sexual immorality and adultery being displayed among celebrities and they are being praised for that.

And now, 47 people have been killed (so far the body count) in Maguindanao, allegedly because of political rivalry. What happened to us? What happened to this nation that has so proudly claimed to be the only Christian nation in Asia?

My heart bleeds for the families of the victims. Okay, let us say that these people may not be so innocent at all. That they also have their share of violence, etc. But do they really deserve to die like this? And who are we to put judgment on them and be above the law for that matter?

I condemn the killings in Maguindanao. I pray that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. I pray that merciless killings and atrocities will stop in our country. I pray that this country will turn to God and really believe in Him. Only then will we truly experience prosperity, peace, and freedom.
