Going under the knife is not an easy thing. I remember when I was pregnant, I kept on psyching myself that I will deliver the normal way–my baby will go out the birth canal.
However, after more than 24 hours in the labor room, induced labor, epidural anesthesia, and endless internal exams, my doctor finally decided to have me under C-Section. I have not slept or ate and my doctor assessed that I no longer have the energy to push my baby out. I was already having chills and there was already a slight discrepancy in my baby’s heartbeat. So under the knife I went. Yet I was already open at 9cm.
My husband on the other hand has had an appendectomy when he was in high school. So have three of his siblings. It is not easy to undergo surgery, especially that your life is in the hands of your doctor at the moment while the surgery is going on. That is why it is necessary to only go to a doctor that you trust. You have to meet with them, such as, Dr. Alan Dulin, and you have to be comfortable with them before a procedure is done.
Additionally, post-operative procedures are as important. You should be able to trust your doctor that he or she will follow through the procedure with proper care. I am just glad with my OB. She is a very caring lady and although I paid for her services, she did not charge much and her post-op was great. That is why I keep referring her to my friends and family.
