Winter Olympics Saves February

For sports fans, no sports coverage on TV is just plain boring. And many people are very thankful that there is the Winter Olympics this February because there are many exciting sporting events on ice. I love the events! I have been watching the coverage on Solar Sports, though not continuously, but I am entertained.

But what I cannot understand are the people who caused a riot because they are against the Olympics being held in Vancouver. I cannot really understand the general sentiment against the Olympics. I know that whenever the torch goes, there is some sort of raucous. I wonder why is that.

I think that the Olympics is a very good avenue for sportsmen to show off their skills and engage in a friendly competition against other nations. Why the hostility?

Olympic Torch in San Francisco Re-routed

The leg that covers the San Francisco area for the traditional torch run for the opening of the Beijing Olympics is again marked by demonstrations. Everywhere the torch it seems to be attracting an odd assortment of people.

The Olympic games is supposed to foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and friendship between nations of the world, but everything is turning out to be one big circus. I can never understand why people are staging rallies for the Olympics. What for? Couldn’t we just for once agree and play a nice game?

I am already sick and tired of these demonstrations. Everywhere in the Philippines, people hold rallies for the slightest reasons and nothing happens. It just disrupts the normal way of life.
