The New McDo Lacson 6th Street

McDonalds Lacson 6th Street is the first McDo branch here in Bacolod City. Located along 6th-Lacson Streets, it was near the capitol shopping area, banks, SSS, and it is just across the Capitol Lagoon. It has become a landmark to the say the least.

I have spent so much money at McDo Lacson either for dine in meals, take outs, delivery, Happy Meals (I have collected so many toys), and even dates with my hubby back then when we were still dating. We have also met with many people there, enjoying their coffee, French fries, the cheeseburger meal, and their longganisa meal for breakfast.

We loved McDo not only for their food but also for their service. The owner of the Bacolod franchise was Sir Butch Lopez. The employees were warm and accommodating and the brightly lit interior was welcoming to everyone of all ages. Their play place was also the venue of many childhood encounters.

Then they added McCafe and it had its share of the coffee and dessert loving public. My husband and I had spent some late nights at McCafe, just chilling around.

But then again, three months ago, McDo Lacson had a facelift. The construction was hastened so that the newly renovated McDo will be opened to the public just in time for the city’s MassKara celebration.

I have not been able to visit the place until now because I was not here when they reopened. On the outside I saw a sign that says the “new and bright McDonalds” or something like that. I just remembered the word “Bright.”

But when I went inside, the color scheme of the entire place is subdued. It is no longer the McDo that we have loved over the years, it looks more like McCafe. I went around trying to look at the new amenities. I asked where the play place was and was told that they no longer have a play place. The second floor had been closed. They only had one function room that could sit 50 pax. I inquired about their McDonalds Birthday Party package (as they have new themes-Mickey Mouse, Disney Princess, aside from the Hannah Montana, Ronald and the gang, and the Disney Fairies). I waited for about 12 minutes in the birthday party counter and nobody attended to me despite my asking one supervisory crew and the guard and I will inquire about their party package.

When I went away, a customer who knew the marketing person told the guy that it seemed I needed something and so the guy approached. He asked me if I had waited long and I told him about 12 minutes. He apologized and said that nobody told him. But the guard did tell him and he was just passing by me as I was sitting there at the table (in plain view).

I would also like to mention that the cheery greetings of the staff when you come inside and they don’t have a lot of customers was no longer there. This is in stark contrast to the McDo East, as their service is impeccable.

Needless to say, I want the Old McDo back! And I want the play place, too, considering that I have my own baby now!

But until then, I guess it would only be Jollibee for us now because they have a play area. That is the only reason why we go to Jollibee or Mcdo in the first place.

I want the old McDo Lacson 6th Street!

Fastfood Chain

I have always liked McDonald’s among fastfood chains. When I was still working in the office, my colleagues would often tell me to buy shares at McDonalds coz it seems I deposit my money with them. lol My favorites are their cheeseburger meal and French Fries. And oh, their hash browns, too! :D

And I have bought lots of Happy Meals so I have lots of Happy Meal toys!. I really like them! And now looking back, my collection is not wasted because my daughter is happily enjoying the toys that I bought. :-D

Though many would think that buying Happy Meals is a waste of money, I don’t. I get to eat food from McDo and I also get toys. I think it is a good deal. I just feel bad that it is more expensive now, so I find it harder to buy one. :-( Sad. But I can’t blame the company. Inflation is bad. buhuhuhu
