Maricar Reyes in Lovers in Paris

Maricar Reyes is the doctor who got involved in the sex scandal videos starred by former classmate-lover, Dr. Hayden Kho. While we saw Hayden messing up his life and that of the women he got involved with in the media, including Katrina Halili, Maricar Reyes remained silent. In fact, she shied out of the limelight in the heat of the media circus.

When everything died down, Maricar Reyes did a comeback stint in May Bukas Pa, a primetime soap top billed by child wonder Zaijan Jaranilla, in ABS-CBN. That was one of the turning points in her life, she picking up the pieces of a shattered image, and guesting in a show that immortalizes hope.

Thankfully, after that, Maricar’s acting and modeling career started picking up and she faced everyone with her head up high. Now, she is Karen, the former lover of Carlo (Piolo Pascual’s character) in the Pinoy remake of Lovers in Paris. My father in law says that she is elegant and she fits the role to a T. She is very classy in every way and Papa likes her very much.

I am happy to see Maricar recovering from the nightmare that she got herself into. And I would really be happy to see her someday with someone to love and to hold who will not judge her because of her past. God forgives…we should to.

The Once Unknown Maricar Reyes

Maricar Reyes is the sweet face that we have seen on a sanitary pad commercial and the one who played John Lloyd Cruz’s first love on I love Betty La Fea. She is also a licensed medical practitioner.

I believe that with her refined manners, she also hails from a respected and educated family. She is one kind of girl that parents are proud to have–famous and
accomplished.

However, the world’s view of Maricar Reyes changed when she became more popular not because of an accomplishment, but because of notoriety. Even if the sex videos were not Maricar’s idea, in fact, she was obviously the victim in this case, however, in a country where people openly discredit immorality and yet practice it secretly, Maricar’s character and dignity was shred to pieces.

Some people say that Maricar could not bear the shame and humiliation already that she has attempted to commit suicide and yet failed, so she got confined to the hospital. Others say that she and her family went to the United States in order to escape the country’s gossip scene. It was also reported that she was supposed to be engaged to be married but that her fiance called off the wedding after the sex video scandal broke out.

Poor girl! Imagine what she and her family had to go through just because of Dr. Hayden Kho’s indiscretion! Whether Maricar committed pre-marital sex or immorality with Dr. Kho is beside the point. The girl was in love with her man at the time. But the man turned out to be a voyeur. She trusted him but little did she know that he has a penchant for taping himself in bed with his women. Too bad that Maricar fell in love with him.

Maricar deserves a better life. Too bad that not everyone wants to defend her. Many people have already judged her and think that she is a slut.

Well Maricar, I do not blame you for falling in love and giving yourself to Hayden. I donot blame you for trying to escape the pain and humiliation that Dr. Kho has brought you. I hope that you will get up from this mess a better person who is ready to face the world and its cruelties.
