Sharapova, Gorres…

I really sympathize with the family of Pinoy boxer Z Gorres, who despite winning in his last fight, lost his physical health to a bad blow on the head. He is now considered a “Miracle Boy” after miraculously waking up.

After months of therapy in the United States, Z Gorres is now back in Cebu and thankfully, the Cebuanos did not turn their backs on him and gave him a hero’s welcome. My heart is really welling with pride. I am not a gambler or a sports afficionado, but I am really proud of our boxers. They are very enduring and persevering, sometimes to their detriment. And although many, like Manny Pacquiao, live high profile lives because of the millions of dollars that they pocket, it cannot be denied that they undergo so much pain in training just to get where they are now. Anyway, Z, we are proud of you!

In another talked about sports event, women’s tennis top seed, the beautiful Russian Maria Sharapova has moved into the quarterfinals of the WTA Tour in Memphis. I am not really a tennis fan, though I would like to play the sport if have the time, but Sharapova is one of the names I watch out for in WTA.
