So much has been said about the Kris Aquino-James Yap break up. During the oathtaking ceremonies of the new president and Kris’ brother, Noynoy, James was nowhere to be found. And now, Kris has filed for the annulment of their marriage.
I am not sure what kind of signals Kris is trying to send.
From my vantage point of a distant bystander, it seemed that Kris was no longer happy in her marriage with James. James could be womanizing or that Kris wanted a new offering in her menu. But she could not bear to remove herself from the marriage because her mother, former President Cory Aquino was still alive, and eventually, her brother Noynoy was being groomed for President. Having your family in such a position is no easy thing, as every move that she makes can also make or break her brother’s bid for the highest position in the land. And of course, she could probably no longer bear to break her Mom’s heart, as she had already made so many bad decisions regarding her relationships before.
But now that her mom has been laid to rest and her brother has secured the top spot of the government during the last presidential elections, Kris can now act as she pleases.
Many people said that it was not James who is having an affair but it is Kris. And now, stories have surfaced linking Kris to Mayor Junjun Binay, son of Vice President Jejomar Binay, who is now a widower. And when Kris came back after a long vacation, she admitted admiring Mayor Binay and she said so many things that one would really say that she is in love with the guy. And considering that she is still married to James, I think it was inappropriate for her to do so.
Oh well, whatever. That is her private matter. Whatever your family’s position in society is, your personal choices are yours to make.
