My Old Job

For the longest time, I had been working freelance. I resigned from my last job as spa manager almost nine years ago already. Imagine that. All these time, I had not been employed but would just accept jobs here and there. I am just not choosy, I take on anything and everything as long as I have the time.

All my life, I had been employed in three companies–a local newspaper, a cable company with a publication, and a day spa. That is in a span of more than eight years.

My longest stay in a company was 6 and a half years and that was in the cable company whose business was cable management, marketing, advertising, and publishing. I was assigned in the marketing department that also doubled as a full service advertising agency and publishing house.

I loved my job then–and that is what made me stay despite the small salary. However, it just got to the point that my love for the job could not compensate for the need of my family because at that time my father lost his job a few years before retirement and we could barely make both ends meet with my brother still studying in college. So I moved on another job, which made my life miserable with all its unreasonable demands.

Eventually, after not taking it anymore, I left after about nine months of tenure and had been working freelance ever since. No regrets there.

But because of my previous jobs, I have made contacts with clients whom I am still working with until now. And because of the good value service that I render them, my clients also refer me to friends so that, thank God, I have a continued stream of clients. God has never left me hungry or destitute. He continues to provide for my needs through my steady stream of jobs, big and small. Thank you, Lord.

Clerical Jobs

I had been thinking, I would like a part time job. But it should be something that I could do in just an hour or two hours a day. If possible, I would like it to be something that I am not required to think much, like it should not be a writing or a creative job where I have to rack my brains for new ideas.

So I think, the perfect responsibility for me would be clerical office assistant jobs. But if I am to work in an office, I don’t think that they will allow part timers, as in most office, clerks are multi-tasking–they are also made to do other jobs, like run errands, answer the phone, and filing among other things.

I believe I am too old and too qualified for that stuff. I just would like to be able to earn some decent extra income, as of course, I have a growing family. Yeah, as in growing. I have one daughter now and I intend to have another one in the very near future. So aside from paying off outstanding debts, I would like to be able to save some before getting pregnant again. So does anyone have suggestions?

Oh yeah, I would call my savings debt cancellation and baby savings. Not that my debts will be cancelled, but rather paid off. That would be a nice start. This year is going to be debt cancellation year. :D

I Need to Market Myself

I am a freelance artist cum advertising professional. People and companies in our community hire me for things that they don’t know or don’t want to do. And since I am freelance, it could just be about anything. That’s okay, as long as I am earning, I am not complaining. I get to keep my hours and stay at home also take care of my baby.

Before I got married, I had business cards that I gave out to people. Now that I am married, I no longer have business cards. Yesterday, after I have done the sticker name layout of my baby, my husband said that I should already start making my business cards. He had been telling me time and time again to make myself a business card. But honestly, I could not bring myself to doing it because I don’t know what to put there anymore. I have been checking out business cards online in the hopes that I will get an idea. But to no avail.

It is just that I have been doing so many things that it seems unnatural if I list them down on my business card. For sure I can do a lot of things, as many people ask me to do layouts, handle events, go to the market, buy them stuff, do their scrapbook, etc. But it is confusing when written down on a business card.

Oh well, I will have to eventually get to doing it if ever I will continue working. For now, I will just evade my husband’s queries about my business cards.
