Excited to Go

My husband, along with our toddler daughter, and myself are excited to go on a five-day trip to Manila soon. We will be attending the wedding of my husband’s cousin.

But it is not the primary reason that we are going. We were able to book airline tickets about 7 months ago and it only cost us P1000 for a round trip ticket for the three of us. That was great savings and without thinking, and without extra money, we booked our flights.

On the first day, we intend to go to the Manila Ocean Park. In the evening, we will be having dinner for an aunt’s belated birthday party. The following day is the wedding. On the third day, we would like to go around Mall of Asia (MOA), for reasons I don’t know except that my husband wants to. haha The next day, we will go to the Rizal Park in Luneta. This decision to go there won over a Star City trip because Star City entrance fee is higher and we are not sure if Dindin will already appreciate it. So at least, at Luneta, with only P10 for the entrance, we will already enjoy the ride.

As for the Manila Ocean Park, we did not really want to go because the entrance fee is too much. But Papa said he will should our entrance fees so that we can join the rest of the family there. We were actually just okay with staying at home, but well, we are just thankful that we can go.

One of the things that I would like to do with my family is have a log cabin holiday over at Guintubdan in La Carlota City. There are log cabins there and the weather is cool so it would be great to go on a trip there. Maybe when the kid(s) are bigger, then we would be able to do this.

For now, I should go on packing. hehe

Preparing for New Year

In a few hours, we will already be celebrating the New Year with a dinner at the house of my husband’s aunt. It is also our belated Christmas party for my husband’s family and close relatives because we were all busy during the Christmas season.

I will be cooking a couple of dishes starting this afternoon because our party is potluck. I have already prepared and marinated the chicken but I still have to cook the sauce for the pasta. Thank God we have house help who prepare the ingredients and who also cooked the pasta. At least I only have to be responsible for cooking and the taste of the dishes just to make sure that they taste right.

We are busy preparing for our party tonight but others are taking a short vacation during this time. After all, there are several days of break from work for more people during this time so they grab the opportunity to have an overnight or a two nights off in a nearby resort. I am pretty sure that many people are also taking hoseasons short breaks just to make use of the several days that the company allows people to be off–and paid at that.

Well, for us, it is not possible because during this time, we spend this as a reunion or as get-together with family and friends. We can just have our vacation again next time.

My advanced greetings for everyone! Have a blessed New Year ya all!

Weekend Getaway

We have treated my parents’ home in Barangay Tangub as something like a weekend getaway. No, we do not really go there every weekend, as during Sundays, we also have lunch with my husband’s family. But if we do need to a breath of fresh air, we go there.

We live in the suburbs, not too far from the city. If you ride the jeepney, about 20-30 minutes is what it takes to get to the downtown area. But our house is not beside the main thoroughfare. We still have to take the trisikad to get to our house. Well, of course you can walk, but if the sun is up in the sky, it is best to take a ride. There are no shady areas.

Anyway, our property there is more than 500 square meters in area. The house takes up most of the space, along with the one-car garage. When we left the house, I mean my brother and I, my parents had most of the lawn paved. They found it difficult to maintain an expansive grassy lawn. And there are only the two of them in the house. They don’t have maids. But nevertheless, there is a big mango tree on the front yard, a small patch of grassy lawn that is planted with vegetables and kalamansi. And on the fences, my father and mother had wallscaped them to make them look lovely. It is a nice suburban home maintained by two retiring parents.

So this weekend, we will be spending Saturday night there so that tomorrow, we can go swimming. hehe We don’t have a real pool, we just have a big inflatable pool by Intex that we bought more than a year ago. Our baby seems to be like the water already so I think she will like swimming in the inflatable pool.

I will also ask my mom to cook pork sinugba and sinugba nga tilapia. yum! I love eating them with my bare hands! Kinamay! With suka, kalamansi, and patis (toyo) as sawsawan. Yummmmy!!! Now my mouth is watering….

I have to go pack now. :D

P.S. Still looking forward to a grand vacation with my family soon. :D
