Today, my family had a wonderful time at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol Lagoon. It was a breezy afternoon. Around 5:30 pm, we went there and got out our baby’s new walker. She enjoyed walking in the cool park, with its semi-fresh air, trees, music, and many people going around.
The Capitol Lagoon is truly a family or people’s park. Many families are seen strolling. There are fitness buffs brisk walking or running. There are skateboarders and dancers practicing. It is clean and relatively safe from sun up to midnight. There are guards patrolling the area so bad elements are hindered from strutting their stuff.
But I cannot say the same for the Bacolod Public Plaza. In my perception, it reeks of vermins and vipers–literally and figuratively. Sorry to say this, but it seems the plaza is the haven of low lifes. I am really sorry, but a friend of mine had a stainless steel blade on his side when he waited for his friend to arrive at the plaza.
Anyway, I hope the city government of Bacolod will redeem the reputation of the plaza and make it a safe place for people to go to, to just relax, wait for somebody, or just hang around with friends.
