Getting Into International Property Investing

real estate

If you are from Asia and you want to buy a residential property in Wales or a commercial area in Atlanta, you will need a lot of advice from experts. You will need information from location, pricing to legalities.

International Property Investment is at the best of times volatile. If you’re looking to invest in property across different countries, you have to keep track of political and economic developments. The global economic outlook is bleak, especially in developed countries in North America, Western Europe and the Far East. However, developing countries, particularly those who export goods to the West are also affected.

There are many details which you need to keep track of if you’re to avoid all the pitfalls that can come with property investing. Exchange rates change on a daily basis, and the value of one currency is higher than that of your home country, then the likelihood is that you won’t have the resources to buy the property you want.

The political situation in a foreign country can often hinder your ability to buy property abroad. A prime example of this is the situation that actress Angelina Jolie found herself in a few years ago. She bought property in Cambodia, not knowing that it allegedly belonged to the notorious Khmer Rouge regime back in the 1970’s. She wasn’t aware of this when she purchased the land, but found that she had a long, arduous legal battle on her hands.

Jolie’s situation means that, in order to get a grip of all the potential legal complications that come with buying property abroad, you need to hire real estate lawyers who can assist you with any future dealings. With that in mind, your safest bet as far as international property investment is to either buy property in the Eurozone or in the US, as more deals of that nature are done in Sterling, Dollars and Euros than any other currencies. Also, the fact that financial and political news is easier to come by in the Western world is another plus.

A Laughing Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie with Anderson Cooper

Recently, actress and UN Ambassador Angelina Jolie was interviewed by Anderson Cooperin his TV show and in the screen shot above, the actress was seen laughing heartily.

I think that it is refreshing to see her laugh like that because she is often pictured with a grim and serious look on her face. But my gosh! She looks to frail! I do miss her look in Tomb Raider.

Angelina Jolie is so Thin!

Anyway, I really wonder why celebs like Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmesmaintain that somber look. My husband told me that maybe they do not want to have wrinkles. Laughing creates laugh lines and in order to prevent that, they keep a straight face. I wonder if there is a value to his opinion, but I think that he has a point. But gee, I would laugh my heart out–wrinkles or not. Life is too short to keep a grim face always.

Without a hint of a smile--Victoria Beckham always looks like she is mourning.

Angelina Jolie on Newsweek

Angelina Jolie on the cover of Newsweek

Angelina Jolie was recently interviewed by Newsweek and she landed on the cover for this prestigious current affairs magazine. Here she talks about her new film, In the Land of Blood and Honey, which is her directorial debut.

Jolie reportedly wrote this story in two days while being quarantined in the attic of their French home as she nursed a flu.

The problem is, a Crotian journalist is claiming that the Hollywood actress stole the concept of his story, which he wrote in 2007. James J. Braddock claims that Jolie has read his article and used it as an inspiration for the storyline of In the Land of Blood and Honey.

The movie is a love story set in wartime 1990s Bosnia where a girl named Aija falls in love with Daniijel–a Serb. She was raped and abused in prison. Or something to that effect.

Again, I don’t know the real story, but honestly I think that wartime stories like these are not uncommon. I think these have all happened in wars all over the globe. It even happened to Filipinas during the Japanese regime.

And also, many writers and artists have been inspired at one point in time by different people so it may be what happened to Jolie when she wrote the story.

I thought it kinda cool that a premier actress like Angelina could also write a screen play as well as direct a movie. But anyway, these things happen.

This is the second legal battle for Jolie. Earlier, her former nanny living at their French estate sued them for dismissal compensation after two years of service. The 45-year-old Ana Charlotiaux was fired for allegedly making too many sick leaves.

Last month, Jolie’s name was also dragged in murky waters when it was reported that she dealt with a mass murderer in Cambodia when she bought her properties there.
