Last Monday, a friend of mine and I went to the GMA Kapuso Show at the Event Centre of SM City Bacolod. After the show, my friend Millie asked me to go with her to the SM Department Store and I happily obliged.

We went around the ladies section because she needed a summer outfit as well as a poncho that she can use when she goes to Boracay.

It was then I learned that if you purchase worth P3,000 from SM Department Store from April 8-22, 2012, you can get a free jelly bag like the one pictured on the left. Upon learning that, I thought of adding things to what Millie bought so that our purchase can reached P3,000.

So I bought a dress for myself that I can wear for the wedding of Dennis’ cousin next month. Then we got a couple of Planet flip flops, a gift for my inaanak, hand sanitizer, and some cookies. It took us some time and after almost three hours, we finally paid the merchandise we got and then I got this pink jelly bag. And super thanks to Millie because I would not have gotten this without her.

Now I am thinking if we need something else worth P3,000 so that I can get another bag! LOL This offer is only until April 22, 2012. There are other colors available. So if you want to avail of this, go shop at SM with a friend or family member and pool your purchases. This one is very useful!

Gift Baskets for Mothers Day

Mother’s Day 2012 is coming in less than two months. Have you thought of what to get your mom this year?

Here are some suggestions:
1. If your mom is tech savvy, you can send her a Mother’s Day e-card via email. But to make it more personal, you can probably give her something personally or send something by the mail, if you live faraway.

2 Flowers arrangements and chocolates would be nice. Just be sensitive if your mom is allergic to flowers or may have high blood sugar.

3. Edible fruit baskets or deli baskets, like those from baltimore gift baskets online, would also be nice and safe because even though some Moms have health problems, they can still most likely be able to eat some fruits. And it sure is lovely to receive.

4. Jewelry. If you can afford to splurge this year on your beloved mother, jewelry would be it. But of course, we know that only a few could afford this.

5. Clothing. Moms love items given by the children, especially a special blouse, scarf, or sweater.

6. Most moms would like to smell good, especially on occasion. Gifts of cologne or perfume sets would be much appreciated.

I personally prefer jewelry, but well, that would be a long way off. LOL Advance Happy Mother’s Day to all moms in the world!

Wear a Motorcyle Helmet Always for Safety

Here in the Philippines, more people probably own motorcycles than cars. That is because motorcycles are cheaper than cars and they are better than commuting because you get to your destination faster. And well, they are fuel savers so you actually save money than if you have a car.

But in a country like the Philippines where traffic rules are not rigidly followed, motorcycle accidents just happen everywhere. And it is sad because most of these people on motorbikes do not even have motorcycle insurance. And these can sometimes be fatal, not just for the driver but also for the person who is back-riding. Yes, tandem is often practiced here and you will sometimes see a whole family with two kids riding a motorcycle driven by the father and all of them do not have helmets! It is just crazy!

While we know that accidents can happen even to anyone who is too careful, how much more if you ride a motorcycle without a motorcycle helmet? Exposing your entire body especially your head while driving on busy streets is just plain dangerous.

That is the reason why there are laws for that but since they are not being implemented regularly (yup, implementation is just seasonal), people do not diligently wear helmets. They reason that it is just too hot to wear them in a country like the Philippines. But since you are in a country like the where traffic rules are grossly ignored, then all the more you should wear a motorcycle helmet for safety.
