Mesothelioma is that dreadful cancer that works quite differently in the body. Instead of hitting the body’s vital organs, it rather affects the lining or the covering of the organs called the mesothelium. I think it is crazy, because I cannot imagine how it works.

But because it is a cancer, it can still affect the organs once it is metastasized. Mesothelioma commonly occurs in the lung and abdominal cavity because the known cause for this debilitating disease is exposure to asbestos.

While mesothelioma cause is known, people are still at risk because of job hazards. I really feel bad that these people have to expose themselves and their families to this disease. And asbestos is not easily controlled. When a person who is contaminated with asbestos goes home for the night, he is exposing his entire family and whoever else is living in their household to the harmful effects of asbestos. Imagine! Such a traitorous element!

Mesothelioma symptoms are many but the most common and probably the most obvious during the earlier stages are coughing, shortness of breath, which naturally leads to pain in the chest. While chances of mesothelioma survival are dim, there are rare cases that have outlived their doctor’s estimate. While it may be considered quite a rare form of cancer, it something that is most disputed, which is the reason why there are so many mesothelioma cases.

When mesothelioma is diagnosed it is already quite late because its symptoms are common with other ailments. So when a patient is diagnosed with mesothelioma, it is already quite late. I guess the best best is that, if there are any buildings or factories anywhere near the person’s home or job that has used asbestos, then chances are, the patient is exposed and is at risk.

This is a really sad condition. Not even the magic of Harry Potter could take this out. The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows may be the more appropriate label for this.
