In the United States, some people have taken the role of Secret Santa Claus seriously. They have set aside a huge amount of money, given $100-bills to anyone they see in public places that needs a good cheer. These bills are marked “Secret Santa.”
This effort has uplifted many lives, if not literally, but at least their hope in life has been renewed that somebody out there is willing to help.
In my case, it is not being Secret Santa, because my priority is to help the people that God puts in my heart. Such as friends and family members who need it most. This year, the most pressing concern is a friend of mine whose family just got reunited after her husband was bailed out.
Anyway, if I wanted to be Secret Santa in Philippine context, the recipients would be those sidewalk vendors selling candies, gums, biscuits, etc. I would like to be able to buy them some stocks that they could still sell. That way, they can be able to sell these stuff without having to pay for capital. That would mean extra income for them.
I like this concept because it is helping people who are already helping themselves. This is sooo much better than just giving alms to beggars. These people just want to make a decent living. But this is their only means. I have seen some very old women still selling these stuff in street corners, enduring the heat and the smell of the city’s pollution. Helping them this way may not be much, but at least they will feel that there are still some people who care for their plight. I am not sure if I can do it this Christmas though, much as I want to.
Anyway, how about you? What are your plans?

sweet! thank you for dropping by my blog..
Well doing a particular gesture as a secret santa is not bad as long as you do not feel bad about it.
hi marly! of course not…who would feel bad by doing secret santa?
nice… keep love 4 others in your heart. ’cause others always need love from the others
I have seen this on the news too..its good that even with the crisis today, still there are people who are generous enough and willing to give..
