Eat Bulaga Game Portion for Manny Villar

The heat of the presidential elections is soaring.

Today, I chanced upon a segment of Eat Bulaga whereupon there was a game called something like “Sagot sa Hirap”. The whole time that the segment was on, there was a small icon on the screen in an orange box that states the title of the game and a smaller white box with a check on it. The orange color has long been associated with Presidential Candidate Manny Villar. I also noticed the check, which is common in his TV ads. I immediately associated the segment with Villar and thought that he is sponsoring this.

I did not completely understand the mechanics of the game. Somewhat people wrote their wishes and if they are lucky enough to get picked, they have a chance to play the game. In the game, they get to spin the wheel. There were several smaller colors on the wheel, and each has a particular prize with it. The purple was P10,000, the brown was P15,000, the white was a cart full of groceries, while the orange was the total of P25,000 plus groceries. Or something like that. The orange, which was the jackpot, occupied 4 very big slices in the wheel. I think that altogether, the orange slices total half of the wheel.

Unfortunately, the woman spin the wheel twice and never got the jackpot. The audience shouted, “Isa pa” and the hosts Michael V and Julia Clarete gave in. After the second time, the woman still did not get the jackpot. On the third time, Michael V just declared that all the prizes will be given to the contestant. She got a total of P25,000 plus groceries.

Anyway, why did the hosts easily give out the money? Simple. They were probably instructed to give the prizes out anyway. It is saying that Manny Villar is very kind or something like that. Anyway, it is a political campaign alright done rather discreetly but obviously declaring Manny Villar. But I have to admit that it is done with much taste. We are really dealing with good publicity or PR people here, the best that money can buy.

I shudder at the thought at how Manny Villar will run the country when he wins. Why all the giving away of so much money? Do people really think that the actors are not paid? Ha! They are paid by the millions. The media are also getting millions in ad placements. And that game show, it is like Mr. Villar is running the show. Even the EB Babes are wearing orange!

Why all the giving away of money? Senator Villar has long been known as a businessman. He is very shrewd that is why he is now a billionaire. Would he not seek a return of his investment when he is already in public office? Does he really want to end the poverty of the people? Is he really the answer? How can people be so naive??? At this point in time, in this day and age, why do people still fall for the trap?

Probably, just probably, if we had known Sen. Villar for his humanitarian efforts rather than his business alliances, I would really think that he has the heart to help. But his helping had been much publicized when he announced his plans to run for president. That is why I highly doubt his motives.

I am airing my apprehensions about Sen. Villar because I highly doubt the motives behind his showering of money everywhere.

Anti-ageing Products

I can no longer deny the effect of the years on my skin. I can lines, wrinkles, and of course, the more obvious age spots. Even my pimple scars are looking more apparent.

So anyway, I decided that I needed to do something or at least put something on my face. Last year, I bought Olay Total Effects Moisturizer and Eye Cream. After several months, I still kept on complaining to my husband that it is not doing what it is supposed to do.

But this year, my skin’s condition worsened. I got myself an apricot scrub by St. Ives and then I used Olay again, and more religiously this time. At the very least, I use Olay once a day and I would scrub my face four times a week, as recommended on the label. Indeed, my face is more supple and the lines are not very obvious anymore. Well, the age spots are still there but my skin really looks younger.

So I guess, all I needed was some discipline.

I am tempted to change my moisturizer to the St. Ives Collagen Elastin Moisturizer because it also worked for me when I was in the US where the weather was cold. But I think I should stick to what is working now, after all, it was like 7 years since I last used St. Ives.

Other than these two products, I cleanse my face with papaya soap. That keeps the pimples off my face.

What would I like?

Valentine gifts are a big deal. It is because love is a big issue for every person. We were created or wired that way, that is why love is like part of our essential needs, like food and water. Without love, our lives become miserable.

I would really like to get a nice gift this Valentine’s Day. I am thinking of flowers, because I really do like flowers, but sometimes, pragmatism tells me that flowers wilt after a day. And no matter how much they cost, they won’t last. They are just nice for the day. Maybe it is the thought that counts. But well, I think a lasting gift would be nicer.

Then I am thinking of perfume. I had been wanting to buy even just a cheap bottle of perfume for some time now but I have not gotten to doing so. So getting one this Valentine’s Day would be a nice treat. I am not sure if my husband will read this blog entry. I hope so, so that he will get the idea. hehe

But most of all, what I would really like for Valentine’s is to spend time with my hubby. We have not gone out just the two of us for some time now and being able to have some quality time with him would be a really nice treat. Actually, I already asked him out for next week. Although we have not set the date yet, but we already know what we want to do.

It will just be something simple, nothing too extravagant. The movies have been struck out because a ticket is already very expensive nowadays. Add to that gasoline and then meals, then we would really have to spend a lot. So instead, hubby and I have thought of just buying take out and bringing the food with us to the pier. There we get sea breeze and free parking. A couple of hours eating, holding hands and talking, would be a nice way to spend time together.
