Holiday Shopping

Oh, it seems that we can never see the end to all the holiday shopping!

I am an early bird so I did my Christmas shopping early. Most of the gifts that we are supposed to give to our godchildren and the children in the family we already bought in October. As the days went by, we realized that we still need to get more gifts as there were still baptisms and birthday parties to go to. And so the shopping continued. The other day, we went to the store again to get a couple of toys and a dress for a godchild who has come over from a different city just to visit us.

And the holiday shopping is really very tempting with all the promotional products around. There are bundling promos as well as buy 1 take 1 or even 2 or 3. Imagine the savings. There are great discounts too, as well as being able to get a certain item for very cheap as long as you are able to reach spending of a certain amount. Like last Christmas, we can get the memory pillow at half the price if we can purchase something worth P500.

Just the same, as with anything, control is the key. There are so many temptations around and with the convenience of the credit card, it is so easy to go the abyssmal route of so much debt.

So as with anything, my holiday message is, EXERCISE RESTRAINT.

The Sound of Music

I became sentimental last time and asked my husband to show The Sound of Music on DVD. Yes, even in turning on the DVD, I ask my husband to do it.

Anyway, I was not able to watch it in its entirety in one sitting because of my baby, so I was able to complete the viewing of the film in two installments.

As always, I love this film. I love their singing, their songs, and the story. It is a wonderful story of romance with a touch of history. And filmed in the 60s(?) I believe, you would not think that it is an old film because of the excellent direction and cinematography.

It is the kind of film that I would watch from time to time and not grow tired of. Actually, I had it on because I wanted to expose my baby to their kind of music. But she was only interested in the movie during the musical part and she would fuss when there are speaking lines. I guess she is not ready for it yet.

I would just like to announce that ABC is showing it.

Eminem Dies…???

I was horrified to see the headline that Eminem died in a car accident. But when I read the story, it was revealed that this is not true. But I wonder why it was reported that this famed rapper died on Christmas Day?

While I am not sure if this story is true, I was horrified to learn of another celeb’s death. I mean, after Michael Jackson, we see the lives of celebs unraveling before our very eyes. I know it is reality, but I am just saddened because they seem to have everything and they lose everything in just an instant.

Anyway, the report of Eminem’s death came with the terrorist attack in Detroit. Oh no, not again! But really, without funding, these terrorists could not go about doing their business. I hope those who finance terrorist activities will come to their senses and stop warfare and instead promote peace. It was reported that the hero of the day was Syed Jafrey, an entrepreneur who thwarted the actions of the suspected Nigerian terrorist named Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Thank God!
